Aside from additional flights to Bologna and Sofia, the German carrier will launch a new route from Dusseldorf to Stockholm. In summer 2016, airberlin will increase the frequency of flights to Venice, Florence, Barcelona, Budapest, Gothenburg and Copenhagen, offering additional opportunities for transfers to Boston, Dallas, San Francisco and Havana. Launching new routes and additional flights will strengthen the position of airberlin in Europe, in particular in Italy through its partnership with Alitalia. The first flight from Dusseldorf to Bologna will be launched by airberlin on May 2nd, 2016. The frequency of flights from Dusseldorf to Venice and Florence will increase to three flights a week. Also, from May 2nd, 2016, airberlin will open a route from Dusseldorf to Stockholm with three flights a day. The frequency of flights from Berlin to Gothenburg and Copenhagen will increase to four flights a day. As of March 27th, 2016, airberlin once again will launch a route from Berlin to Sofia. The twice daily flights will be offered as part of a partnership with BulgariaAir. From May 2016, the German carrier will launch a route from Dusseldorf to Barcelona with two flights a day, instead of one.
